There are several treatment options for hair loss. Medication can be the first option. There are many oral medications such as minoxidil and finasteride for male pattern baldness. Possible side effects of the oral medication include glaucoma, swelling in the lower legs and higher blood pressure.
In some cases, medication is not enough to curtail hair loss. Medical procedures such as hair transplantation surgery and scalp reduction can prove successful. Such surgical procedures are more effective in case of hereditary hair loss. As every medical treatment, this also has some side effects which include patchy hair growth, scars and infection. Apart from hereditary reasons, hair loss can occur due to careless hairstyles and aggressive hair treatments, usage of harsh hair products and malnutrition. Avoiding such harsh hair treatments and a healthy diet will make your hair and scalp healthy to a great extent.
